Exterior Remodeling Projects for the Spring

Soon you’ll be “goodbye winter” and “hello spring”. The harsh winter season is coming to a close and when it does, it’s time to do some spring home maintenance work and possibly, a remodel project. Your home’s exterior will reveal the impact of the winter season and will likely need some sprucing up to look rejuvenated again. Whether you’ll be enhancing your home’s exterior for your appeal or putting it on the market this spring, certain home remodeling projects can elevate the look and feel of your home’s exterior. Check out these common exterior remodeling projects for spring.

Deck or Patio Addition

When it comes to an addition to your home, it’s hard to go wrong with a deck or patio. It’s a great space to have for the warmer months ahead, especially if you and your family love the outdoors. Outdoor entertaining can be something to look forward to this year with all the possibilities that a deck or patio offers, from outdoor entertainment to family dinner. You can design your patio as you prefer and include seating and lighting for the fullest outdoor experience whether in the daytime or nighttime.

Siding Renovation

After a harsh winter, it’s important to check on the condition of your siding. If it’s damaged, it may not be the most pleasant thing to look at and that could immediately diminish curb appeal and steal from the beauty of your home. Less curb appeal could mean a drop in the value of your home. You don’t want an eye-sore on the side of your home or for your home to lose value. Get a siding renovation to restore your siding with any of the variety of siding materials available on the market. Whether you are creating an accent wall from wood or a foundation wall from stone veneer, you can find different colors and styles to fit your specific needs or preference.

Roof Repair

The winter season brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures, all of which can impact your roof. Damage can occur and it’s not always noticeable, but roof repairs may be needed to protect your home and belongings. A worn and damaged roof not only makes your home unsafe, but it brings down the appearance of the home, making it less visually appealing. If you take on a spring roof renovation project, you could prevent a minor problem from worsening and save on cost, and in the process, boost your home’s curb appeal.

Gutter Replacement

Your home’s gutter system is an important part of keeping your home protected from water damage that could lead to a compromised foundation, rotting walls, and mold development.  When the winter season ends, it’s best to check your gutters, which could be blocked with debris(leaves, twigs), or damaged with cracks or holes. Blocked, damaged, or misaligned gutters will impede the proper drainage of water. Fix any gutter issues that you may have immediately, including getting your gutters replaced to ensure that they are in good working conditions for the rainy and storm seasons.
