How to Prepare Your Home for Summer

Keeping your home well maintained is important during all seasons, but it’s especially important during the Summer when everyone is out and about that much more. Regular maintenance can help you preserve the value of your home bad keep it looking great. Spring is typically the time that homeowners clean up the inside and outside of their homes. Getting ready for your barbecues and cookouts can be easier than you think, and with Summer on the way, the time is now.

Up Your Curb Appeal

Take a walk out to the end of your driveway and observe your home from the curb, and see if you notice any deficiencies. You’d be surprised by how infrequently you take a good-close look at your home. This simple inspection can reveal so much with the exterior of your home. You may notice that after a long winter, your roof needs a replacement, or that your gutters are sagging. Some issues with your home’s exterior can be quick fixes like cleaning your siding, but sometimes weather damage can warrant a full replacement with a more durable option. If you feel comfortable on a ladder, removing branches and debris from your roof and gutters can help extend their lifespans.

Create a Grand Entrance

A new front door or portico can be used to give your home a fresh and exciting look. A portico is a covered entrance to a home that’s supported with columns. A custom-built portico adds tremendous character to a home of any style. Visitors will appreciate a new welcoming entrance. Painting your door or installing a new door is another awesome way to welcome guests to your Summer gatherings. The entryway of your home is the first impression that visitors get, so you want to make a good one!

Boost Your Outdoor Space

One of the best parts of the Summer is beautiful weather. You want your home to look great visually, but you’ll also be spending tons of time in your yard. A deck or patio is an excellent way to extend your living space outdoors. They also give you the added flexibility to install a fireplace or grilling area outside. If you have children, a basketball hoop or some lawn games can be great additions to keep the whole family entertained and out in the fresh air.

Once your home is prepared, the last step is landscaping. Having a neatly manicured lawn gives your home a fresh look that will accentuate your other hard work. We hope that these tips help you get your home ready for your friends and family to enjoy this Summer!
